I absolutely agree with Jim Davis when he says, “Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie.”
Barfis & More also reflects the above saying. It is an endeavor to translate my love for sweets into healthy dessert options made with vegetables. Yes, the name is BarfiS & More and not barfi as people who have a sweet tooth know that you can never have just one, so the S emphasizes multiple servings. & More, as we are not just talking about only sweets but a gamut of desserts and savory options.
Through this blog, I would like to share healthy sweets and savory dishes with the readers. This is also an attempt to make Indian sweets more attractive and repackage them to appeal to the younger generation.
I am trying to address two goals:
Health benefits – To make sweets healthier by introducing fruits and vegetables. By including fruits and vegetables, we automatically reduce the consumption of milk solids, ghee/butter.
Sustainable Cooking – Trying to cook desserts/dishes using everyday ingredients available in the Indian pantry. By doing so, I want to encourage eating local and seasonal fruits and vegetables which has a low carbon footprint.
